Frank Pines Cleveland, Ohio Obituary – Cause of Death: Cleveland Community Mourn Loss Of Scalpers BAR & Grille Founder

The Cleveland-area community is remembering Frank Pines Sr., the founder and longtime owner of Scalpers Bar & Grille in Lyndhurst, whose name became closely associated with one of Northeast Ohio’s familiar neighborhood sports bars.

Pines opened Scalpers in 1994, building the establishment into a local gathering place known for its extensive menu, wings, burgers, sports coverage and entertainment. A 2024 Lyndhurst community publication highlighted the restaurant’s 30th anniversary and credited Pines with establishing the business three decades earlier.

Scalpers later expanded its offerings through its connection with Sharpy’s Subs. The business became particularly known for its wings, burgers and large selection of food, while its numerous televisions and sports-bar atmosphere helped make it a destination for customers throughout Northeast Ohio.

Cleveland Magazine previously profiled Pines and described him as the owner of Scalpers, noting that he had been a familiar presence at the Lyndhurst establishment for many years. The publication also highlighted his involvement in promoting the restaurant and its signature food offerings.

For many patrons, however, Scalpers represented more than a place to eat or watch a game. Its long history made it part of the local business landscape, with generations of customers returning for meals, sporting events and time with friends.

Cause of death: At the time of publication, I could not locate a reliable funeral-home notice, family announcement or established news report confirming Frank Pines Sr.’s death or publicly identifying a cause of death. Accordingly, no specific medical cause should be stated as fact.

The community’s memories of Pines are closely tied to the business he created and the lasting presence Scalpers has maintained in Lyndhurst. Any additional obituary or funeral information should be confirmed through the family or a recognized funeral-home notice before being reported.
