The community of Toronto, Ontario, is mourning the death of Tyler William Hanger, who passed away on October 3, 2026, at the age of 22. His family announced his passing with profound sadness, remembering a beloved son whose kindness and compassion touched the lives of those around him.

Known to many of his online friends as “Dot,” Tyler was described as a caring person who made time for others and helped people feel valued. He was in his final year of studying criminology at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus, with hopes of becoming a police detective.

Tyler had a lifelong passion for sports, including soccer, baseball, and hockey. He also enjoyed playing video games and watching his favourite hockey and football teams. During the summer, he worked at the food terminal for Canadian Fruit Produce, balancing work and his university studies.

Tyler is lovingly remembered by his parents, Phillip and Rabiab Hanger, his younger brother, Thomas, and his extended family, friends, and online community. Though his life ended far too soon, his family says his kindness, laughter, and loving spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
